Matoaka Cottages Information

This site is another popular site for shark teeth collectors due to the huge range of different species of sharks found here. The owners of this site do charge a nominal ($5) fee per person to access the beach from their property and to park your vehicle on their property. Many marine mammal bones and other marine fossils can be found here. The site is dated to the Miocene age. There is no digging in the cliffs as this is strictly illegal and very dangerous. It is best to check the tide times before going to this site. Low tide is the best time to find fossils here.  The further you walk down the beach the more shark teeth you will find, because less people have been there.
