Hookend Information
The best time to go is while its warm and not windy. Plus be very
cautious of the sea as it comes in really fast. This site is not a
SSSI
so this means that hitting or breaking open rocks is ok to do. Make sure you
keep an eye on the tide time tables as well. This site is a fair walk for

There are three
layers at Hookend which are (top to bottom):
Middle Chalk: Terebratulina lata
Zone and the Inoceramus labiatus (Orbirhynchia cuvieri) Zone this rock is the
most fossiliferous but only really available from broken bits that have fallen
to the ground.
Lower
Chalk: Cenomanian age
Upper
Greensand
