Port Mulgrave Information

This location has yielded many amazing marine reptile skeletons and ammonites over the years. It was once a harbour where ironstone would have been shipped out from. The harbour has long gone and now shows some of the famous early Jurassic shale's. Many species of ammonites can be found here along with a many species of marine reptiles. The best time to fossil hunt here is after the winter storms or just as the high tide is going out. The fossils can be found as nodules or as the fossil itself in the shingle and at the matrix at the bottom of the cliffs.
